![]() ![]() Genos, one of the few people who knows Saitama's real strength, says he sensed an unfathomable amount of power from Gouketsu in their short fight, similar to Saitama, and believes only a quick ambush by Saitama and the S-Class heroes could safely defeat him. He beats Genos, martial arts champion Suiryu and a monsterized Bakuzan without even trying. Anti-Climax Boss: Gouketsu gets a lot of build-up in the Super Fight Arc.Angst? What Angst?: Saitama is pretty unfazed by the unwarranted hate mail he gets.It helps that Saitama is shown engaging in heroic behavior that doesn't involve just beating the opponent, like making Child Emperor see through Phoenix Man's manipulation or reassuring Tareo he won't harm Garou and trying to redeem him. Saitama seems to want to help people, but not being good at it, complaining he lacks the "instinct" and arrives too late (comparing himself to King and even Garou himself, who in the end turn out to always be exactly where they are most needed to help). During the fight with Garou the manga would point toward the former interpretation.Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Saitama's "being a hero is just my hobby" thing him playing off a genuine desire to help as I Was Just Passing Through, or does he genuinely not care about the big picture as long as he gets the immediate gratification of fighting a monster and saving the day? He's clearly a decent person in many respects, but it's possible to read the setting as a Crapsack World and Saitama as someone who genuinely doesn't really think or care about the horrific damage caused by the constant monster attacks he faces as long as he gets good fights out of it.Adaptation Displacement: Most people would be more familiar with the anime than the manga, and there are certainly fewer people familiar with the webcomic than the former.Chapter 168 has Genos ramming Saitama to cheer his return, with rather specific place Genos decided to hit.Genos: What do you want with Sensei's meat?įubuki: Demon Cyborg, Genos.
